⛰️ Photo Journey: Be A Rock⛰
A photography journey about strength under pressure and the lessons we can learn from rocks in these challenging times.
For many, these are dark times. Just a week past one of the most polarizing elections in history, half of us are grappling with the sting of defeat, feeling as if we’ve been gut-punched. The political divide has turned neighbor against neighbor, communities feel fractured, and the climate crisis looms ever larger. Economic recovery has come at a high cost, straining our finances, while rising global tensions fuel fears of an impending World War. And yet, it’s in these moments that we’re called to be the rock—to stand steady, not just for ourselves, but for those we love, those who need resilience to anchor them in these turbulent times.
Rocks endure. They withstand pounding storms, rushing water, and the relentless forces of nature, standing as symbols of stability across every age. Under pressure, they transform—shaped by stress into something even more remarkable, like rugged cliffs or polished stones. We, too, are being tested in much the same way, challenged to adapt, strengthen, and, together, become something resilient enough to endure.
As divided as we may be, now is the time to come together. Under immense pressure, rocks undergo a transformation called metamorphism: rather than breaking down, they fuse, altering texture and composition to become something new. In the hardest conditions, they unite to form something stronger, more resilient. We, too, must find ways to fuse our strengths, adapt, and emerge from this pressure transformed and fortified.
In the end, we’ll reach the other side of all this. But to do so, we must take to heart the lessons from our geological friends. Whether it’s the broader call to come together or the personal challenge to stand firm and be a source of strength for those we love, we must become the rock. By embodying resilience, we not only endure but help others find their footing through the storm.
