Four Nature Artists Redefining and Elevating the Genre
Four Social Media Accounts That Will Awe and Inspire Any Nature Lover
Few things rival the natural world in their ability to inspire. From the unassuming beauty of a tiny mushroom clinging to a branch in the Pacific Northwest to the dramatic, otherworldly landscapes of the Dolomites, our planet offers a breathtaking array of wonders. Wherever we call home, we are surrounded by natural miracles—each as awe-inspiring as it is mysterious, quietly inviting us to pause, marvel, and re-center ourselves.
When your social media feed is overflowing with nature content, as mine often is, it can all start to blend together. That’s why I wanted to dedicate this post to a select group of nature “content creators” (apologies to anyone cringing at that term) who bring a truly fresh and distinctive perspective to the genre. Don’t get me wrong—I’ll never tire of sweeping landscapes, wildlife encounters, or soul-stirring videos. But these artists elevate the craft with unique styles and visions that stand out from the crowd. I’m genuinely grateful to witness their work during my daily scroll.
Ogik Jatmiko (@ogik_jatmiko)
(Austria by way of Indonesia)
Ogik is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite in this genre. His cinematic approach flows effortlessly between breathtaking stills and awe-inspiring drone footage, each post radiating his unmistakable style. There’s a distinct artistry to his work that makes it instantly recognizable, capturing the majesty of nature in a way that feels both grand and deeply personal.
John Derting (@johnderting)
(Alaska, USA)
I can’t think of another artist with a greater knack for perspective than John. His creative use of objects to transition seamlessly between sweeping landscapes and crystal-clear underwater scenes is mesmerizing. Right after Ogik, John’s work is the account I most eagerly anticipate during my daily scroll. Each post is a fresh reminder of why I love this genre so much.
Ryan Dale (@redal.uk)
(Staffordshire, UK)
When you think of nature photography, mushrooms and insects might not be the first subjects that come to mind. But Ryan Dale’s stunning macrophotography transforms these overlooked wonders into works of art that rival even the grandest landscapes. His lens unveils a breathtaking micro-universe—one we pass by every day without noticing. His work is a powerful invitation to pause, marvel, and gain a newfound appreciation for the intricate beauty of the natural world hiding in plain sight.
Mark Smith
(Florida, USA)
Mark might be the most traditional of these four artists, but as a birding enthusiast with a special love for ospreys, he’s one of my personal favorites. His high-resolution, slowed-down videos of raptors and other marine birds capture their grace and power with stunning clarity. His work is the ultimate inspiration for what I’d love to achieve in my own projects someday. And if you’re hunting for a late Christmas gift for me, his coffee table book, Osprey: The Glorious Pursuit of Unbridled Determination, would be a great choice!
